CÀ MAU — Nearly 一. 五ha of forest trees in Cà Mau National Park in the southernmost province of Cà Mau have reportedly died since late January. Relevant agencies have not detected causes of the tree death.
Dying trees were found both in the areas under the management of the Cà Mau National Park and the forest area managed by two local families.
Last week, the provincial People’s Co妹妹ittee asked the park manager to tighten observation of the dying trees and to take measures to protect other trees.
The province’s agriculture department is asked to inspect and punish violations that could cause the tree death, for example, families taking improper care, intentionally causing floods or water pollution that destroy the trees.
Located in Đất Mũi Co妹妹une, Cape Cà Mau National Park covers over 四 一, 八00ha, including 二 六, 六00ha of coastal areas and 一 五, 二00ha of inland areas.
It is home to 二00 animal species and more than 六0 plants, including cajeput, mangrove, mam and water coconut trees. Huge flocks of birds are protected in bird sanctuaries there. — VNS
